More Important than Resolutions

During this time of year, people are spending a lot of time on New Year’s resolutions; I want to suggest that you do something more important:
Establish your Big Picture View (BPV).
You see, it’s difficult to make resolutions of any kind, whether for business or personal reasons, without a Big Picture View of who you are and what you want your future to look like.
In fact, it’s difficult to make effective decisions of any kind without having real direction.
The wedding and portrait photography industry is full of photographers who haphazardly do a little of this, a little of that, buy this product and that product, and ultimately aren’t as successful as they could be - all because they have no idea where they’re going. I would venture to say that the photo industry is a small representation of how people, in general, function.
Take an hour or two, go somewhere quiet, and resolve where you want to be in 10, 20, or 30 years - both on a business and personal level. Make it simple, memorable, and easily accessed.
Now that you have your BPV in place, we can talk about resolutions.
