I Have a Life

Evernote (Part 1: Why)

I’ve already mentioned Evernote briefly, but I’d like to really delve into the application, and begin doing so by asking, “Why?”

As I see it, Evernote exists for two reasons:

1. Enabling a paperless lifestyle, both at work and on a personal level

2. Giving us a place to dump data

This means three things:

1. From now on, any piece of paper - receipts, bills, articles, tax documents, contracts, licenses, insurance documents - essentially any piece of paper that is vital to your business and personal life, should get scanned into Evernote for easy reference later on. Most of these documents can then be shredded. No more stacks of paper and envelopes on your desk and counters, and no more lose documents on your computer’s desktop!

2. Any time you read an important digital article that you want to easily search and reference later, save it as a PDF and into Evernote.

3. Any time you want to take notes of any kind, whether you’re brainstorming or writing an outline for a presentation or putting together you’re next big business idea, do it in Evernote.

Make Evernote your digital brain.
