Put Your Computer on a Diet

A little while back, we talked about the idea of minimizing, of reducing the amount of moving parts in your personal life and business, in order to have a life. One small step in that direction is using a little program called WhatSize.
WhatSize gives you an overview of what is taking up space on your hard drive. You’ll probably be surprised at how much space is being wasted on your computer with unnecessary files and applications, and my guess is that you could probably live without at least half of it.

You can download the application through the App store, and once you have, start by running an analysis on your hard drive. You can then do one of two things with any unnecessary files you come across:
1. Delete them
2. Create a folder called “Backup_date” and move the files into that folder to then be copied to your onsite storage hard drive (we’ll be talking about backup storage in a future post)
If you happen to be on a Windows system, here’s an alternative.
Happy deleting!
