When during the work day should you take care of scanning documents into Evernote?
Great question.

Ok. So you got Evernote installed on your computer, your phone, and you have a scanner so that you can start moving all of your paper into Evernote.
Now what? How do you manage all of the stuff you’re putting in Evernote?

I’ve already mentioned Evernote briefly, but I’d like to really delve into the application, and begin doing so by asking, “Why?”
As I see it, Evernote exists for two reasons:

Going paperless (and using Evernote for that purpose) is a topic we’ll be covering in more detail in future posts, but you can get started now!
1. Download the Evernote app to your iPhone or Android
2. Create a folder in Evernote called “Receipts 2011”, or if you have multiple businesses, “Receipts [Business Name] 2011”.
3. Every time you use your business credit or check card, snap a picture of that receipt with Evernote and file the image in your Receipts folder.
4. Throw away or recycle that receipt!
5. Repeat

The topic of functioning in a paperless environment is a huge topic that we’ll be spending a great deal of time covering on this blog, but until we start delving into that topic, check out this amazing scanner from Doxie that allows you to scan documents directly to your iPhone or iPad!
